Craving something sweet after dinner, but it is getting close to bedtime? Try this chamomile smoothie 1-3 hours before bed to calm your senses and prompt relaxation. Chamomile reduces the number of fired signals through the brain’s excitable nervous system. This slows brain activity to prompt calmness and relaxation throughout the body. Not to mention, chamomile is naturally caffeine-free, so it is a great herbal option if you are craving a drink but want to avoid caffeine prior to bed. Smoothies are also a great vehicle for protein powder. So, if your gym routine typically falls later in the evening, try adding protein powder to this smoothie for muscle recovery.
